Over the past 18 months or so, you’ve almost certainly heard the phrase ‘return to normal’ or ‘getting back to normal’. This sentiment is obviously in regards to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and how necessary steps have been taken in order to get back to life as we knew it before the pandemic. Now that restrictions are becoming more and more loose around the world, it has become time to think about your vacation rental business and its preparedness for when it’s your turn to get back to normal.
Obviously, when we say normal, we still have some caveats (such as large indoor gatherings and social distancing). That being said, it will be close enough where there will most likely be some travel occuring. The United States is planning on resuming international travel this summer (2021), and have been given the greenlight by European countries. This international travel will surely bring more business and guests for your short term rentals.
However, there are still things that need to be done in order to successfully acquire new incoming guests. For starters, this summer will still have a large number of restrictions for travellers and people will still know they’re in a pandemic. So, no, don’t get rid of your cleaning measures or your cleaning team, as it is paramount that these things stay in place so that future spread is stopped. Also, as mentioned in earlier blogs, try to include as many contactless fixtures, softwares and integrations into your properties as possible so that guests don’t feel like they need anyone to accomplish daily tasks.
As more information becomes available, the better informed you are as a host. Use your best judgement to determine what protective measures should be taken and how they affect your business.
